Message From the Chair

Electrical and computer engineers at Clarkson take to heart the guiding principle of the Coulter School: Technology Serving Humanity. From investigating misinformation about the pandemic and developing the next generation of reservoir computing, to sharing ideas for 3D mapping techniques and striving to make the most of a Clarkson education, our faculty, students and alumni are using their skills to change the world for the better. Here are some recent highlights from their endeavors.

Next Generation Computing

Imagine a new way to forecast dynamical systems like the weather— one that utilizes a machine learning algorithm but works more like the human brain. That’s what Professor Erik Bollt is working toward. His research on next generation reservoir computing was recently published in Nature Communications and featured in the AI and Machine Learning Focus section. READ MORE

Rising Globally

“Golden Knights Rise” isn’t just a tagline; it’s how we live. How apropos, then, that Rise, a Schmidt Futures and Rhodes Trust initiative, selected one of our Golden Knights in its first cohort of 100 Rise Global Winners. Computer engineering major Olaoluwayimika Olugbenle ’25 plans to use the scholarship and support to further his education so that, one day, he can pay it forward. READ MORE

Robotics Leaders
