The end of the semester brings new beginnings for our recent graduates, as well as opportunities for Arts & Sciences faculty and students to delve deeper into research and scholarship. Summer is the season of growth, activity and cultivation, all of which our Golden Knights wholeheartedly engage in on their quest for knowledge. Concrete Advice
“Chase your passions! Live your dreams!” Such advice may be meant to inspire, but it’s often unhelpful if students don’t know where to start or what steps to take to land their dream jobs. Realizing the need for concrete advice, Professor Tom Langen and his students recently published a how-to guide for becoming a professional ecological field technician. READ MORE
Summertime Math
While many of our undergrads head back home for the summer, nine students will be traveling to the North Country, ready to tackle unsolved mathematical problems. They are part of a Research Experiences for Undergraduates program hosted by Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam professors and paid for by the National Security Agency. READ MORE
A New Name
A degree by any other name smells as sweet, but, unlike a rose, it is also more valuable. Our communication degree has been renamed a BS in Communication, Media and Design to reflect the broadening skill sets that students will master during the program — skills that they will need in the ever-evolving media landscape. Research Awarded
Extending the shelf life of food would go a long way in reducing the amount of food waste we create each year. Clarkson doctoral student Oluwatosin Popoola is aiming to do just that with his research on smart antimicrobial food packaging. The American Chemical Society took notice, and its AGRO Division gave Popoola an award for his work. READ MORE
