Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office is proud to present an opportunity for Clarkson University Students to travel to the Akwesasne International Powwow in the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory on Saturday, September 10th. Eligible students must have international travel documents (Passport/NEXUS Card/Enhanced ID Card) and fulfill all border entry requirements into Canada. Students are also expected to dress appropriately for a day outside. Clarkson University will cover the entry fee.
The Akwesasne International Powwow is back this year and will offer visitors a chance to see dance and drum competitions, including the popular smoke dance competitions. Dancers and spectators from all over Indigenous North America compete and showcase their talents. A wide selection of craft and food vendors will allow anyone to purchase goods and experience powwow cuisine. Please note each student will be expected to bring their monies for food.
Join this experience by registering with diversity@clarkson.edu and travelling by bus, leaving Cheel Arena at 10 am on Saturday, September 10th, with an expected return to campus around 4-5 pm. For more powwow information, please visit https://www.akwesasnepowwow.com/.
