In an effort to encourage faculty and staff engagement with students, the Office of the Dean of Students manages the Dr. Robert A. Plane Endowment Fund. This fund, initially by a generous gift from Dr. Robert A. Plane, president of Clarkson 1974-85, and his wife Mary, provides modest grants to be used to help offset personal costs for refreshments/meals at student gatherings held in employee homes or on campus. Employee dedication to creating opportunities for students to build connections may affect the student experience at Clarkson and ultimately positively impact student retention.
The Office of the Dean of Students is authorized to reimburse employees based on the following parameters:
- $150 of expenses incurred if the event is held in the employee’s home / off-campus, or
- $100 of expenses incurred if the event is held on campus
Due to the popularity of this program and limited funding, only one request per employee, per semester will be considered.
To request Plane Fund Reimbursement, email deanofstudents@clarkson.edu with the following information:
- The reason for the event;
- Name of the student group invited and the number of students in attendance;
- The date and location of the event;
- Attach receipts (no alcohol);
- Indicate if a University credit card or a personal credit card was used to purchase supplies/food
- If a University credit card was used, provide a departmental account number where refunds will be transferred
