Introductory Aikido Classes

Aikido, ‘The Way of Harmony’, is a martial art that teaches participants how to respond to conflict without resorting to force or more conflict; it teaches the strength to choose peace and harmony. Aikido develops body, mind and spirit and enhances fitness, grace and calm. The emphasis on mutual respect fosters a supportive learning environment that promotes self-confidence and relaxation. The Beginning Aikido classes are for anyone interested in learning about this non-violent martial art. No prior experience necessary.

Due to the close nature of aikido we require masks to be worn. Participants should wear comfortable clothing that they can easily move in. Please do not wear any jewelry as it is dangerous for all involved.

Classes are in the Aerobics room in the fitness center (behind the weight room). The introductory class is is on Sunday, Jan. 22 from 4 to 5 p.m., and beginners classes continue each Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m.

Japanese sword classes run on Saturdays from 4 to 5 p.m.

Classes are free to Clarkson students and staff.
