Denim Day Next Week!

Denim Day is a campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.

In a show of annual global support, as a university we are asking our community to stand up against sexual assault of everyone, LGBTQIA, women, men of every race, and gender and wear denim. We will have lots of events happening on the 26th in the student center. Any and all help is appreciated!

There will be guest speakers, giveaways, self care including 15 minute yoga sessions on the hour every hour from 10AM – 2PM in the MPR’s. Other event information to follow.
