Provost (Potsdam, NY)

Position Summary:  As a key leader among the President’s Executive Council, the Provost will bring dynamic perspectives and broad, hard-won experiences in academia to the University which is collaborating with a president, now leading in his second year, to advance values-based strategic planning and decision-making that matters. Direct reports to the Provost currently include the academic deans; institute leaders; and senior administrators for research and scholarship services, faculty achievement, institutional research, student achievement, the Honors Program, The Clarkson School, the innovation ecosystem and libraries.

Minimum qualifications: An earned PhD or terminal degree in a relevant field and a record of scholarship, as represented in professional publications, research support and recognition that meets Clarkson requirements for the rank of full professor. Ten years of academic experience, at least five years of which include significant administrative experience with evidence of sound fiscal and personnel management, as well as research development. Experience spanning areas of Clarkson’s portfolio would be ideal.

Range: $240,000- $440,000

Assistant/Associate Professor Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (Potsdam, NY)

Position Summary Guidelines: The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) Department of the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering at Clarkson University invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in Aerospace Engineering starting in the 2024/25 academic year (August 1, 2024 preferred). A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related area is required. Applications are sought from an individual with a research focus in space engineering, which may include, but is not limited to: guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), systems engineering and integration, space systems/vehicle design, space robotics and mechatronics, space logistics and manufacturing, or other related areas of aerospace engineering.

Minimum qualifications: Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Research interests in at least one of the areas identified above. A record of scholarship consistent with experience level. A commitment to teaching excellence.

Range: $78,000- $85,000

Assistant to the Dean of Students (Potsdam, NY)

Position Summary:  Provide administrative support for all aspects of the Dean of Students operation as well as oversight and support of the office suite. Manage projects such as the CU Pantry and Student Affairs Family Newsletter independently.

Chemistry Stockroom Manager (Potsdam, NY)

Position Summary Guidelines: This position provides critical services for day-to-day operations of the Chemistry Stockroom, a central science stockroom for the Potsdam Hill Campus, at Clarkson University; and support for the department undergraduate teaching and research labs of the university.

Minimum qualifications: B.S. or M.S. (preferred) degree in Chemistry or closely related field. At least two years wet lab experience with knowledge of typical stockroom operations.

Range: $23.00- $27.00

Assistant to the Provost- Temporary (Potsdam, NY)

Position Summary Guidelines: Support and coordinate the Provost’s administrative efforts to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote excellence in scholarship and teaching across the University. The supported efforts include but are not limited to undergraduate and graduate education, educational partnerships, continuing education, and distance education; outcomes assessment for undergraduate and graduate program development and improvement according to established procedures; development, implementation and growth of new degree programs; interdisciplinary activities affecting undergraduate and graduate education; activities related to monitoring and improving the effectiveness of student advising. The Assistant will provide guidance, information and assistance to faculty and staff as needed. Administrator and repository for knowledge about Interfolio: primary contact for management and training of the Interfolio faculty review and tenure and promotion process.

Minimum qualifications: A minimum of ten year’s office experience in a university setting, five years of which must have occurred in an academic department-level or higher-level academic unit, comparable research unit, or in a setting that involved day-to-day collaboration with such units; an associate degree may substitute for up to two years of experience. The candidate must have knowledge of university policies and procedures, organization practices, and protocol; proficiency with computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the internet are required. Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to exercise personal judgment, ability to analyze complex business process, effective decision-making skills, and a willingness to exercise initiative are required. Familiarity with PeopleSoft financials and student records management system is essential.

Range: $30.00- $34.00

Position Summary Guidelines: A Post doctoral opportunity is available at Clarkson University in the Clarkson Center for Complex Systems, under the direction of Professor Erik Bollt, W. Jon Harrington 77’ Professor in Mathematics and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Minimum qualifications: A PhD in mathematics, physics, electrical and computer engineering, computer science or related.
