Open Skate Times and Rules

We hope everyone has enjoyed the start of the semester and been able to enjoy the weather. We have been hosting Open Skate on Sundays this far into the semester as we have worked to help refresh open skate so that it is enjoyable for all and now have scheduled more Open Skates weekly.

We have had some confusion about students showing up when there are no open skates scheduled. Some have shown up when open skates were in the past and some we have had to cancel or move due to scheduling conflicts. To help make it easier for students and staff, all open skates will be scheduled as an event on Knight Life from this point forward. Also to better keep track of how many students and which students are attending Open Skates all students will now need to check in via Event Pass and must enter and exit the ice through the basement in cheel via the visiting tunnels. Event Pass check in will take place at the time keepers booth or the skate rental window. Full rules and regulations for open skate are below, as well as posted within Cheel Campus Center and Arena.

Open Skate Rules and Regulations:

  • Patrons must wear skates when on ice. No shoes permitted on the ice surface.
  •  All patrons MUST enter through the visiting locker room tunnel. Participants can not enter through the arena stands.
