Welcome to the September edition of the STEM LEAF/ADVANCE Newsletter! 

Clarkson’s NSF ADVANCE grant is designed 

1) to effect positive institutional change around reduction of implicit or unintentional bias associated with gender and intersectional issues of race, ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, and disability, 

2) to systematically and equitably support the development of inclusive leadership skills and the professional advancement of women STEM faculty, and 

3) to implement sustainable, systematic changes across the University in support of these goals.

Making Visible the Invisible – Understanding Intersectionality the Biennial Report from CEOSE Advisory Committee

“Making Visible the Invisible – Understanding Intersectionality illuminates the dynamics of intersectionality in the STEM enterprise and how more information about intersectional identities is needed to remove barriers to participation in STEM. The Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering hopes this report will encourage others to participate in conversations about their differences in experiences with people who have different overlapping identities and start to analyze ways to make improved opportunities for students, personnel and fellow colleagues in safe and inclusive environments where diverse STEM talent is an asset.”
