The Potsdam Holiday Fund needs volunteers to sort gifts from December 5-14 and then “elf” at “Santa’s Workshop” on December 15 and 16. Elfing involves helping families choose gifts and clothing for their children.
Please sign up to volunteer at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084BA9AF29A4F5C43-44856014-potsdam. The link includes dates and times when volunteers are needed.
The Potsdam Holiday Fund has been helping families in need for more than 30 years. Each year, hundreds of families have been able to give their children new gifts, along with warm winter boots and jackets, and enjoy a hearty holiday meal together, thanks to the Potsdam Holiday Fund. To do all of this, the fund partners with hundreds of generous donors who contribute cash and gifts.
The program is coordinated by community volunteers and serves Potsdam, Madrid, Hopkinton, Nicholville, Brasher Falls, Chase Mills, Fort Jackson, West Stockholm and Winthrop. To support our local area, its vouchers are redeemable only at local businesses.
If you can’t volunteer, you can donate toward the purchase of gifts, warm clothing, and food at potsdamholidayfund.org, or mail your check made payable to the Potsdam Holiday Fund, PO Box 827, Potsdam, NY 13676.
You can also participate in fund-raising events like Dr. Jim’s Chemistry Magic Show on Saturday, December 9, in SC 360, “Holiday Happiness” cards at LaVigne’s IGA in Potsdam, or Giving Tags at area businesses.
As an all-volunteer organization, the fund is proud that 96 cents of every dollar it raises goes directly to help those it serves.
