Friday Jazz Night

The Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton serving North Country is hosting a Winter Jazz Night with a Coffee Bar Friday, January 12th from 6:30-8:30 p.m (tonight).

The group, 4 All You Know, is local musicians John Danis on an electric wind instrument and vocals, the Rev. James Galasinski on bass, Steve Manders on drums, and Tim Savage on piano.

The quartet will play two sets of jazz music by Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, and other legendary jazz artists spanning the jazz history timeline from swing, bebop, and cool jazz to Latin and fusion.

It was John Coltrane who said, ‘My goal is to live the truly religious life and express it through my music.’ I believe, “jazz and blues confront despair and suffering and create joy in the process. Jazz is a unique art form because it’s about the present moment. We can’t go back and fix things, so the important thing is to listen to each other. If we are truly doing that, then our mistakes become opportunities,” said Rev. Galasinski, Minister of the church.

The coffee bar will include café americano, espresso, decaf coffee, various teas and herbals, and hot chocolate.

All jazz and coffee bar nights are free and open to the public and welcoming to all. Attendees may bring a non-perishable food item to support the Church and Community Program.

4 All You Know will set up in the social room at the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 3 1/2 East Main Street in Canton, across from the village park.
