The Stephen Newkofsky H’03 Endowed Student Engagement Scholarship was established by donors to recognize first-year Clarkson students who are actively engaging with the Clarkson community through their activities, support the values of Clarkson, and demonstrate that they will not only make the most of their experience while at Clarkson but that they will remain engaged lifetime members of the Alumni Association.
This scholarship was established and funded by many alumni and friends to recognize and honor Stephen Newkofsky at his retirement from Clarkson University in 2016. Mr. Newkofsky served Clarkson for 36 years as Associate Dean of Students, Dean of Students, Associate Vice President for Alumni & Parent Relations, and Dean of Students and Lifetime Engagement.
This student recipient will receive $1,000 beginning in their sophomore year and is awarded again in their junior and senior year, contingent upon the student remaining in good academic standing and maintaining the ideals of this scholarship.
Interested students must:
- be a member of the first-year student class and;
- have at least a 2.5 GPA
Applications must include the following information:
- student’s resume of activities and;
- a letter of support from a member of the Clarkson staff or faculty (letters may be sent separately, directly from the employee, if preferred)
Applications must be submitted to the Office of the Dean of Students via email at deanofstudents@clarkson.edu no later than Monday, February 12, 2024.
The Office of the President will contact the scholarship recipient in the middle of the semester. The award will be presented during the Celebration & Recognition of Excellence Weekend (CREW) at the Recognition & Phalanx Ceremony. Candidates who were not selected will be contacted by the Office of the Dean of Students.
