Dance Connections: Latin Beats! Salsa, Bachata, and Bomba dancing!

Several pairs of dance partners spread across the hardwood floor of an art gallery work on salsa dance moves.

Clarkson Knights can spice up their Spring with Latin Beats for a Salsa, Bachata, and Bomba dancing workshop.

Dr. Jeanna Matthews, Clarkson professor and founder of the North Country Latin Dance community, will lead a fundamentals of salsa workshop teaching a variety of dance moves such as shoulder check and hairbrush, and basic steps like cumbia, and a variety of turn patterns. In April, the workshop will include bachata moves and in May the instruction will include bomba.

“You don’t need special clothes or shoes. You don’t need a partner or any previous dance experience. Just show up ready to have some fun moving to some great music,” said Matthews

The Latin Beats: Salsa-dancing workshop is Saturday, April 27 and Saturday, May 25, 4 – 5:30 p.m. at UU CantonFree! The workshops will be hosted in the UU Canton social room located at 3 1/2 E. Main Street in Canton. Parking is located at the back of the building
