REGISTER AND SAVE THE DATE – Summer Research and Project Showcase (RAPS)

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) and Clarkson Ignite will collaboratively host the summer Research and Projects Showcase (RAPS) on Wednesday July 24, 2024.

RAPS is a forum for student presentations on research, independent projects, and other educational activities, including internships, co-ops, and study abroad experiences. Creative projects, designs, business plans, and other activities are also welcome.

Registration is NOW open. In order to register, you must first join the RAPS Moodle page, where you will find additional details and a link to the registration form. ALL members of a research or project team MUST join the Moodle page – however, only one team member should complete the registration form linked on the page.

The deadline to register is Sunday July 7, 2024 at 11:59pm EST.

Participants can register for either an oral or poster presentation, but not both. Note: only posters will qualify for the sustainability and commercialization prizes.

Oral Presentations are short (9-10 minute) presentations, with an additional 3-4 minutes reserved for Q&A. All oral presentation files must be uploaded to Moodle between July 8 and July 21 11:59pm EST.

Poster Presentations are short (3-minute) elevator pitches followed by interactive dialogue with the judges and the general public. Presenters are required to stay at their poster for the entire presentation block, although if a presenter has a class conflict, the RAPS team will work to accommodate them. Poster presenters should bring posters with them when checking in on July 24.

NEW THIS YEAR, each session high scorer is eligible to compete for overall honors. Each session’s high scorer will be given the opportunity to present a three minute elevator pitch highlighting your research to an audience of Faculty, Staff, Alumni and fellow students. This abbreviated oral presentation is designed to measure how well you can communicate your research to the general public and a broad audience. More information will be posted on Moodle in the coming days.  Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three undergraduate and graduate presentations. Presenters must be present to be eligible for overall honors.

Awards for Best Presentation in each session and the Overall winners will be announced at the RAPS awards ceremony on Wednesday July 24 in the ERC 4:00pm

Faculty, we hope that you will also attend to support our students and their research. Please consider assisting by serving as judges on event day. If you are interested in judging, please sign up here: RAPS Judging Spreadsheet.

As always, should you have any questions, contact us at raps@clarkson.edu.

Thank you!
