Amber Stephenson Receives Promotion at Clarkson University

Amber Stephenson has been promoted from associate professor to full professor of healthcare management in the David D. Reh School of Business. She is also the Director of the Healthcare Management Programs.

Stephenson teaches health systems management, leadership and organizational behavior, as well as strategy capstone in the Healthcare Management MBA and Online MBA programs.

Her research focuses on how professional identity affects perceptions and behaviors of the healthcare workforce in terms of willingness to lead, engagement, burnout, and retention. She also explores how women leaders experience gender bias. Her work has been published in top-rank health management and human resources journals and also featured on Morning Joe, CBS News, CNBC, Business Insider, Financial Times, Fortune, and was utilized in policy by the European Health Parliament.

Through her scholarship, Dr. Stephenson has had the opportunity to present to the US Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, at the inauguration of the University College London’s Global Business School for Health, Grand Rounds at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and she was one of five recipients nationally to receive the AcademyHealth Presidential Award for Health Services Researchers. She was also the recipient of the John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award, The David D. Reh School of Business Service Excellence Award, The David D. Reh School of Business Teaching Excellence Award, and the Phalanx Distinguished Service award.

She is on the executive board of the Academy of Management’s Heath Health Care Management Division and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
