Jannith Wanni ‘22, a Clarkson graduate with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, has been chosen to receive an Acta Student Award for his primary contribution to the manuscript “Columnar grain morphology and mechanical anisotropy of face-centered cubic metals and alloys” in the journal Scripta Materialia. As a PhD student in the Clarkson Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department, Wanni co-authored the paper with his advisor, Professor Ajit Achuthan.
In addition to the recognition, Wanni will receive a $2,000 cash award and will be recognized at The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS) 2025 conference.
Officials with Acta Journals say that Wanni’s paper “demonstrated exceptional value to the materials community, and his personal credentials and recommendations were also exemplary.”
Wanni is currently doing his postdoctoral work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
