More Support:
The intent of the next section is to provide additional information about final exams from the Registrar, The Teaching and Learning Corner and The Office of Accessibility Services:
Registrar’s Office – The final exam schedule has been uploaded to your Faculty Center in myCU. If the schedule is incorrect, or you are no longer giving the exam, please contact the Registrar’s office at academicscheduling@clarkson.edu as soon as possible so the schedule may be corrected.
Teaching & Learning Corner – Faculty are encouraged to use Moodle to communicate with students regarding final exam details and contact information.
There are a range of assessment activities available in Moodle and beyond. Pay close attention to settings and technical considerations when setting up a quiz in Moodle. TLC staff are available to help set up and test your online assessment activity. Review web resources: Success with Online Assessment. Reach out for one-on-one assistance at helpdesk@clarkson.edu
Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) – OAS addresses all final exam scheduling and adjustments over a period of four weeks for approximately 400 students. Due to space availability and the need to ensure accommodations are met, OAS prioritizes final exams for students with accommodations. Questions or concerns regarding final exams should be directed to oas@clarkson.edu.
Due to limited facilities and staffing, OAS will NOT consider courtesy exam proctoring requests.
The following relates to students with extended time exam accommodations:
- For timed online exams, faculty will need to override the exam duration to double the time for the general class. How to: Moodle Quiz User Overrides. Take-home or untimed exams (such as those open for 24 hours) do not require time extensions unless stated otherwise.
- Students may take up to two exams on any given final exam day since this equates to 12 hours of exams.
- Students with back-to-back exams on their myCU exam schedule will need one of their exams rescheduled. OAS has made these modifications for students manually.
- Exams which are scheduled for 7pm have been adjusted to 5pm. This allows students to finish their exam by 11pm rather than 1am.
- OAS considers the Academic Regulations (III-H-4) related for exam conflicts.
Students with accommodations are emailed instructions for their accommodations at least three times each semester. These instructions include the deadline for submitting requests for final exams. Due to the logistics of final exam scheduling and proctoring, OAS cannot provide final exam accommodations after that stated deadline, which is approximately one month prior to the start of finals.
If a student develops a temporary disability impacting final exams, they must contact oas@clarkson.edu immediately to discuss possible accommodations.
