FAS Request for Winter Break

From the Clarkson Facilities & Services Team . . . The North Country (Potsdam) winters can be brutal, which in turn can unexpectedly cause havoc with any number of building systems within the residence halls.  We request that each of you (even if you have a roommate), a couple of days before you leave for break, check the following:

  • Windows are closed. Please actually touch the window and feel around the seals to ensure that no blasts of air are coming through.  If you are unable to fully close the window, please submit a work order as soon as possible so that we may address the issue.
  • Heat is functional and set to 65 degrees.Again, please put your hand near the register to ensure warm air is blowing out of the grate. If you feel cold air, please enter a work order so that we may investigate.  In addition, please reduce the thermostat to 65 degrees to save energy.
  • Move important items up off the floor.  We strongly recommend you place any items that are on the floor, and are of importance to you, onto your bed, desk and/or dresser.  Sadly, we cannot always prevent incidents from occurring, i.e. frozen/broken pipes or floods, so this will prevent any standing water or leaks from causing too much damage to personal items.

We thank you for your attention and hope you have a wonderful, stress-free winter break!Questions? Please call (315)268-4000 or email facilities@clarkson.edu.Work Order Site: https://fasworkrequest.clarkson.edu/mc_web
