Welcome to our newest Golden Knights and welcome back to our returning students! We hope you had a wonderful winter break and holiday season. Below is important information and reminders for the spring semester.
Key Dates and Information
- Campus Reopening: Residence halls reopen on January 8th at 8:00 AM, and classes resume on January 9th.
- If you need to return earlier, submit an Early Arrival Request Form via Knight Life.
Returning to Campus
- Moving Rooms/Keys:
- If you moved rooms, return your old keys and pick up new ones from the Residence Life Office in Price Hall (1st floor, Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM).
- Failure to return keys will result in a charge for a lock change. Lost keys will also be charged to your student account.
- Ensure your keys are picked up and returned promptly to avoid fines and maintain safety.
Students must pick up their residential keys by January 20th at 9:00 AM to avoid a $25 fine. Contact Residence Life if you’ll arrive after January 20th.
Students will actively be moving rooms, so please be patient with our teams during this transitional time.
Meal Plans
- Changes to meal plans can be made through the Residence Life Office (reslife@clarkson.edu) until January 24th at 4:30 PM.
- More information on meal plans is available at Clarkson Dining Services.
Residence Life Staff Selection (2025-2026)
- Applications open January 28th and close February 14th at 4:00 PM via Knight Life.
- Requirements: Application, resume, recommendation, and participation in Group Activity Day (February 15th, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM).
- Interviews for select candidates: February 16th. Times TBD
- Job offers announced: March 7th by 4:30 PM.
- Benefits include full room cost scholarship and priority class registration. TCS House Advisors also receive full Board.
Housing Lottery Dates
- Accessibility Housing Renewals/New Requests: Due March 1st (submit to OAS).
Office of Accessibility Housing placements (found on myCU) – March 10th

- Find My Roommate Request Form: Available March 3rd-21st at 4:30 PM.
- Housing Exemption Requests: Non-medical/non-FSL requests due March 15th via Knight Life.
- Housing Contract & Lottery Numbers: Available March 10th on myCU.
- Numbers are assigned based on length of campus housing history, your cohort not academic standing.
- Apartment Housing/Same Room Selection and Ham/Pow Plan Applications: Available March 10th-26th at 4:30 PM.
- Notifications for approvals/denials sent March 28th (evening).
- Approved groups select housing on March 31st at 5:00 PM. Student Center MPRs
- Housing Lottery Nights:
- Numbers 0-999: April 1st at 5:00 PM. Student Center MPRs
- Numbers 1000-1999: April 2nd at 5:00 PM. Student Center MPRs

Campus Breaks
- February Break: February 20-23. Residence halls remain open; meal plans are unavailable, limited dining options.
- Spring Break: March 14th-23rd. Students must vacate housing by March 16th at 10:00 AM, unless approved via a Vacation Housing Form (Knight Life).
- No dining services are available during this time.
- End of Semester:
- Non-graduating students: Vacate residence halls within 24 hours of your last exam or by May 7th at 10:00 AM.
- Graduating students: Vacate by May 11th at 10:00 AM.
- Clarkson does not store student items over summer.
Residence Life Policies & Reminders

- Office Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, Price Hall Suite 1003. Contact reslife@clarkson.edu or (315) 268-6642.
- Four-Year Residential Requirement: Clarkson is a four-year residential campus which means students are required to live on campus all four years (8 semesters) of their undergraduate experience. Students who do not reside in an on-campus apartment are required to be on a full meal plan.
- Vacant Spaces: The Residence Life Office reserves the right to make changes to residential assignments at any time, with little or no notice, in response to facility limitations, changes in enrollment, conflict resolution, etc., or to address the needs of the overall residential community. This includes reassigning students to any vacant spaces.
- Quiet Hours: 11:00 PM-7:00 AM (Sun-Thurs), 1:00 AM-9:00 AM (Fri-Sat). Courtesy hours are 24/7.
- Alcohol: Students 21 years of age or older may possess and/or consume alcoholic beverages in campus housing. Students of age are expected to exercise moderation and responsibility. For more information on the Alcohol Policy, refer to IX-A in the student regulations.
- Kegs and other communal drinking sources are not permitted.
- Alcohol containers of any kind, full or empty, found in an underage student’s room will be considered a violation of the Alcohol Policy, refer to IX-A in the student regulations.
- Possession of alcohol in public residential areas (regardless of students’ age), i.e. hallways, lounges, and outdoor spaces is prohibited unless the event is registered and has been approved by the Office of Student Life.
- Drugs: The University does not condone any illegal act involving the possession, manufacture, use (except when properly authorized by a physician), or sale of controlled substances (drugs) on campus. Marijuana is not permitted on campus.
- Guests: Overnight guests must be registered and are limited to 72 hours per month. Guests are not permitted during university closures.
- Hall Sports: No sports, roughhousing, or disruptive behavior in residential areas.
- Personal Property Insurance: Students are responsible for their own insurance. The university is not liable for personal property.
- Safety Inspections: The University reserves the right to inspect premises for safety, damage and repair or upgrade planning. Students are responsible for keeping their rooms and apartments in a sanitary condition. The University will, as needed, conduct an inspection of the rooms in the interest of hygiene and safety. Rooms or apartments declared unsanitary and requiring the use of the custodial staff will be charged for the unscheduled cleaning
- Smoking: Prohibited in all campus housing. Must be 30 feet from residence facilities to smoke outdoors.
- Storage: The University is unable to store personal belongings. Items stored/left in hallways, entryways, or stairways are a fire hazard and are subject to immediate confiscation.
The University expects that all students and organizations will conduct themselves as responsible members of society as defined by the student regulations. Failure to comply with instructions of administrative officials, including Resident
Advisers (RAs), who have duly identified themselves may result in disciplinary action.
