Prof. Powers quoted in press related to expansion of New York’s Food Scrap Recycling Law

Clarkson, and many other universities and large grocery stores are obligated by law to compost or digest their food scraps. We can no longer send these materials to a landfill.  That law just got tougher, with smaller grocery stores and many restaurants will now also have to comply with this no-landfill mandate for food scraps.

Clarkson’s Institute for a Sustainable Environment and partner Compost for Good continue to be leaders in the North Country region to support the implementation of this law.  Press from the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) touts this expertise and the value of the expansion of the law in a recent press release.
