Please join us this Friday, January 31st for the David A. Walsh Seminar for the Arts and Sciences in Snell 213 at noon.
Dr. Christino Tamon from the Department of Computer Science at Clarkson University will speak on Quantum Computing.
Q IS FOR QUANTUM
Abstract:
This talk describes a brief glimpse of quantum computing. First, we trace the origins of quantum theory and its beautiful and strange paradoxes. Then, we spotlight the consequential connection between quantum theory and computing through the lens of modern cryptography. Finally, we mention some recent developments in the quantum technological realm. This talk does not contain a comprehensive account of quantum computing, but it nevertheless aims to motivate and highlight a few of its important history and developments. No background or familiarity with quantum mechanics is assumed for this talk.
