Clarkson University to Host Annual Warrior Fest February 15

Clarkson University is set to host the eighth annual Warrior Fest on February 15. This year, however, the sled hockey contest will cap off a full day of hockey at the Cheel Campus Center.

To begin the day, at 11:45 a.m., a group of Clarkson Army ROTC Cadets and local veterans will take on the Fort Drum Mountaineers team, made up of soldiers and retirees.

The Army ROTC team has been in existence for more than 20 years. A little over a decade ago, the ROTC squad was able to connect with the team from Fort Drum. The teams have played a game annually ever since. Last year’s game featured a shootout victory for the Cadets, their first time beating the Mountaineers.

Sandwiched between the ROTC game and the sled hockey main event is the Clarkson University men’s hockey game against Harvard at 4 p.m. This game is also Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Night and Season Ticket Appreciation Knight.

The event celebrates and supports the contributions of veterans in the North Country. Warrior Fest is open to the public and is fun for the whole family.

Finally, the Fort Drum Mountain Warriors will take on the Kingston Knights in the sled hockey game at 7 p.m. Raffles will be available, including signed sticks from both the Golden Knights men’s and women’s hockey teams, as well as a camouflage jersey courtesy of the Fort Drum Mountain Warriors. Those planning to attend the game after the Clarkson game need not leave the stands, and a bucket will be passed around between games to collect donations for the Mountain Warriors team.

Admission is a $5 donation at the door. Clarkson University hockey season ticket holders may attend for free.
