The Bangladeshi Students’ Association at Clarkson University (BSACU) is proud to host the International Mother Language Day celebration on February 26, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Student Center Forum. This event aims to promote linguistic and cultural diversity, educate attendees about the history and significance of the day, and honor the language martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement in Bangladesh.

The event will feature a Martyrs’ Monument, symbolizing respect and remembrance for those who sacrificed their lives to defend the right to their mother tongue. Attendees will also participate in a World Map activity, where students from different countries will pin their national flags with the word “freedom” written in their native languages. A historical flowchart, flyers, and video presentations will illustrate the story behind International Mother Language Day, ensuring a deeper understanding of its impact worldwide.
To engage the audience, the event will include a quiz and an alphabet/drawing game, with exciting prizes for the winners. Guests will receive black badges as a sign of mourning, and they can contribute to the Wall of Language Diversity by writing the word “Mother” in their native language. A photo booth will also be available for participants to capture moments of unity and cultural pride.
The celebration will conclude with refreshments, where attendees can enjoy delicious food while engaging in discussions about linguistic diversity. Through these activities, BSACU hopes to foster awareness, respect, and appreciation for different languages and cultures, strengthening the sense of global unity at Clarkson University.
Thanks,
Abdullah
