INVITES INDIVIDUALS FROM AGES 18 TO 80 YEARS OLD TO PARTICIPATE IN A STUDY OF Mobile Phone Use BEHAVIOR

Drs. Daqing Hou & Stephanie Schuckers perform research in behavioral user authentication and are looking for subjects willing to participate in their research efforts. You must be >=18 years of age to participate. The project involves studying continuous human activity when using a mobile phone, specifically typing, swiping and phone holding behaviors, to determine their effectiveness as a means of human verification.

We are in Science Center 250 (second floor hallway of Science Center).  If you choose to participate, you will be invited to an information session to learn more about the details of the study. At the conclusion of the informational session, if you chooses to participate, you will be asked to read and sign the informed consent form and a randomly generated seven digit number will be used to identify all data associated with you from this point on.  You will then be given a mobile phone with a Mobile Purchase App already installed. The Purchase app software will monitor and record the sensor data while you browse and buy products, with application scenarios including payment and shipping address registration and the purchasing process. Subjects are expected to enter typical personal information that are publicly available, and are commonplace in almost every form which subjects encounter in various websites and services on a daily basis. The data used in the application will be used to monitor the mobile sensor data of participants. The data collected from the sessions will be a part of our dataset but will not become available until only after 30 days, interval of time in which the subject can choose to withdraw, and the data will be deleted from the database in this case.

If you are still interested in participating, please email us at sicli@clarkson.edu with the days and times you are available to participate in our research (10:30am to 6:30pm, Mondays to Fridays). Our scheduler will respond to you to set up an appointment. We are in the second floor hallway of Science Center 250.

This data collection protocol has been approved through the Clarkson Institutional Review Board. Approval #:  25-24
