UPDATE Room Selection Information

We are excited to announce the launch of our new housing software, CU ResLife (CURL)! CURL will allow students to identify compatible roommates, communicate with one another, complete forms, and choose their room assignment all on their own devices. We are thrilled to share information about Room Selection (formerly “Housing Lottery”) which will significantly improve the student experience. Below is important information for you to get started with Room Selection.

We were notified this morning by the company that their server was performing routine updates overnight. We apologize for any inconvenience and confusion this caused.

  1. Monitor your email for a “Welcome to CUResLife (CURL)!” email from reslife@clarkson.edu. 
  2. Read the email and select the “Get Started” button.
  3. Log into CURL with your Clarkson username and password.
  4. Choose and complete one Housing Application (Housing Forms > Housing Application).
    1. HP Express (available immediately through April 11, 2025 at 4:00pm): If you wish to live in a double room in Hamlin or Powers, complete the HP Express Application. You will participate in HP Express Room Selection. See details about this process below.
    2. Cohort Based (available March 31, 2025 at 9:00am through April 7, 2025 at 8:00am): If you wish to live in an apartment, suite, or single room, complete the Rising Senior, Rising Junior, or Rising Sophomore Application. You will participate in your cohort’s Room Selection. See details about this process below.
  5. Complete your Roommate Questionnaire (My Profile > Update Questionnaire or Roommates & Rooms > Questionnaire).
    1. You can only search and review other roommate questionnaires after completing your own.
  6. Create your Roommate Match Group. To create your roommate group, navigate to Roommates & Rooms > Matches and select from available peers. Friend Request then Roommate Request each other.
    1. You will only be able to select roommates who completed the same application type as you–either HP Express or Cohort Based. If Cohort Based, you will be able to choose roommates from any cohort.
      1. Important note about mixed cohorts: Cohort Based Room Selection prioritizes roommate groups consisting of the same cohort. See details below.
    2. Create a roommate group based on the space you would like to pursue. For apartments and suites, your roommate group size must exactly match the apartment or suite size to select it during room selection.
  7. Participate in Room Selection (Home > Select a Room/Suite). You will see your selection date/time on the Home screen under the Room Selection section in the center of the page. Refresh the page at your selection time to see and click the Select a Room/Suite button (directly below your selection time). Be aware that you are not able to modify your room assignment once it has been selected. Only one person in each Roommate Match Group will select for the group.
    1. HP Express (available March 31, 2025 at 9:00am through April 11, 2025 at 4:00pm–see specific details within): If you completed the HP Express Application, you are able to choose your room assignment at any time while HP Express Room Selection is open. If you want to live near friends, get together and choose your rooms at the same time whenever it is most convenient for you.
    2. Cohort Based (available April 7, 2025 at 9:00am through April 11, 2025 at 4:00pm–see specific details within): If you completed the Cohort Based Application, you will be assigned a room selection date and time based on the order of which you completed your application within your cohort. You may select your room assignment at or following your selection date and time while Room Selection is open. The student with the best selection time can select a room assignment for the group.
      1. Selection start dates and times per cohort:
        1. Rising Senior Room Selection: April 7, 2025 9:00am
          1. Mixed cohorts that include 1+ senior: April 7, 2025 5:00pm
        2. Rising Junior Room Selection: April 8, 2025 9:00am
          1. Mixed cohorts that include 1+ junior: April 8, 2025 5:00pm
        3. Rising Sophomore Room Selection: April 9, 2025 9:00am
      2. Important information about roommate groups with mixed cohorts: Regardless of an earlier selection time, these groups will be able to select their room assignment at any point starting at 5:00pm on the date of the senior-most cohort in the roommate group. For example, a group of 3 rising seniors and 1 rising junior will permit the 3 seniors to select the group’s room assignment starting at 5:00pm on the day that Rising Senior Room Selection begins.
      3. A reminder that roommate groups can only select apartments and suites that are an exact match of the roommate group size.

For Cohort-Based Room Selection, speed is the name of the game. The sooner you complete your housing application (available March 31, 2025, at 9:00 am), the better opportunity you have to get the room assignment of your choice.

We recognize that new processes can be stressful. To ensure a smooth transition, staff is available via Zoom to assist you with profile setup, roommate matching, and room selection on the dates/times below. You must be signed into your Clarkson account to access the Zoom. All sessions will use Zoom meeting ID 974-8477-1534.

  • Thursday, March 27: 10am-12pm, 1:30-3:30pm
  • Monday, March 31: 9am-12pm, 2-4pm
  • Tuesday, April 1: 10am-12pm, 1-3pm
  • Wednesday, April 2: 10am-2pm
  • Monday, April 7: 9am-6pm
  • Tuesday, April 8: 9am-6pm
  • Wednesday, April 9: 9am-6pm
