Sustainability Feature! Angie Zeoli

For our last two Sustainability Features of the semester, the ISE will be featuring some of our senior interns!

Angie Zeoli will be graduating this spring with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability, and a minor in Environmental Engineering. She has been an intern at the ISE since her sophomore year, and she has worked on many campus projects during her time as an intern.

A young woman with bright orange hair and a teal climbing helmet rock climbing with ropes, and the same young woman posing with a shovel. Text reads "Sustainable Development Goals, number three: good health and well-being."

As a sophomore, Angie worked closely with the library to improve the bicycle rental program so students can have access to efficient, zero emission transportation. During her junior year, she spent a semester abroad in England, taking courses regarding gender, gothic literature, and the history of environmentalism. After returning from England, she began a new project with the ISE to build rainwater harvesting systems at the fire pits in the Clarkson Woods, and she is currently working on implementing this plan so students can enjoy safe fires again.

Outside of her work with the ISE, Angie is actively involved in the Clarkson Outing club, promoting environmental stewardship in outdoor recreation and Leave No Trace principles. Angie’s favorite outdoor sport is rock climbing, and she loves going on trips to the Adirondacks to take a break from her studies and spend time in nature. Although she enjoys the physical challenges of the rigorous Adirondack mountains, Angie also loves sitting by the Raquette River on a sunny day, writing poetry, reading, or meditating on the beauty of the natural world. A fun fact about Angie is that she is vegan!

After graduation, Angie plans to volunteer through programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps, working on projects that relate to environmental education, sustainable agriculture, or climate resiliency. Her goal is to travel with a purpose, visiting new places and gaining experience in her field of interest by helping others around the country and the world through these programs.

The Institute for a Sustainable Environment is working to feature sustainability initiatives, like Angie’s efforts, taking place on campus. At Clarkson, we are committed to including sustainability in everything we do. If you have a project, story, or other sustainability work you’d like to share, please email Evelyn (laferrep@clarkson.edu).
