Clarkson University PhD Candidate Abraham Francis Wins Scholarship from International Association for Great Lakes Research

Clarkson University PhD candidate in Environmental Science and Engineering Abraham Francis has been awarded the IDEA+ Research Scholarship from the International Association for Great Lakes Research

Francis received the IDEA+ Research Scholarship for his presentation titled “Actualizing traditional ecological knowledge within an Indigenous Community from a programmatic and practical perspective within the context of Canada and the United States.” This scholarship supports research that adds to the diversity of perspectives regarding large lake science, management, education, communication, policy and community.

The award consists of a $3,000 scholarship as well as a one-year membership with IAGLR, including a subscription to the Journal of Great Lakes Research. Scholarship recipients are acknowledged at the Awards banquet at the Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research.

This year IAGLR’s 68th annual Conference on Great Lakes Research – Creating Great Lakes Resilience – will be held in Milwaukee Wisconsin a from June 2 through 6. The IAGLR Banquet and Awards Ceremony will take place on June 5.
