Returning Fulbright Scholar Strengthens International Collaboration at Clarkson University

Dr. Petre, Fulbright Fellow

Dr. Alina Petre, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania, and Research
Associate Professor at Clarkson University, is honored to return to Clarkson University as a Fulbright Fellow for the
second time. Her four-month research stay, which began in September 2025, is hosted by Dr. Costel C. Darie, Professor
of Chemistry & Biochemistry in the Biochemistry & Proteomics Laboratories, Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at
Clarkson University.

This visit continues the vibrant academic partnership between UAIC and Clarkson, supported by both the Fulbright and
ERASMUS+ programs. Over the years, this collaboration has enabled reciprocal visits by students and faculty, fostering
joint research and cultural exchange.

Dr. Petre is contributing to a major research project titled “Untargeted and targeted quantitative peptidomics of saliva for
biomarker discovery in complex medical conditions,” along with several complementary projects.

“I’m truly delighted to be back at Clarkson University,” said Petre. “It’s heartwarming to see familiar faces among students
and faculty, and I’m deeply grateful for the warm welcome. I’m confident these four months will be memorable—filled with
promising research results, meaningful experiences, and lasting friendships.”
