On September 8, 2025 this statement was released by the US mission in Zimbabwe: “For Zimbabweans resident in Zimbabwe, you must apply at the United States Consulate in Johannesburg, South Africa.”
The International Center is actively monitoring visa appointments and assisting incoming students with information as it becomes available. Please reach out to internationalcenter@clarkson.edu with any questions or concerns.
F-1 / J-1 Student Status Reminders
Students are responsible for maintaining their own status! The staff of the International Center is here to assist with questions.
- Enrollment requirements
- Undergraduate = 12 credits
- Graduate = 9 credits
- If a student falls below the minimum credits without proper authorization by the International Center for a reduced course load, they will be out of status.
- Please note: international students must not enroll in more than one on-line class per term that counts toward their full-time enrollment requirement.
- Students are not allowed to work more than 20 hours per week. This could potentially affect future benefits.
After degree completion, international students require off-campus work authorization to work on and off campus.
