Invitation to Participate in Planning Nuclear 101 Sessions at Clarkson in November

For your awareness and to solicit your interest: Clarkson University will be hosting a Nuclear 101 Session, moderated by NYS Assemblyman Scott Gray in November. The session will be open to the public as well as to our campus community.

This event follows a very successful information session hosted by our Assemblymember  that Professors Tom Ortmeyer and Leo Jiang recently served as panelists to respond to questions from elected representatives in partnership with NYPA, Nuclear NY, GAIN, IBEW, and UA 81. That discussion focused on questions raised by the Governor’s Spring 2025 announcements for increased state investment in nuclear energy. Our Clarkson faculty led important conversations on the state’s power grid needs and the cost structures of different energy sources.

We will have access to the panelists for the public session if Clarkson classes or student groups are interested in engaging with them prior to the public session. If you are interested in participating in the planning group, please let us know, and we will include you in upcoming meetings as we prepare for this event.

Thank you,

Profs. Tom Ortmeyer and Leo Jiang and VP Govt & Corp Relations Kelly Chezum
