The Registrar’s Office Year in Review

The Registrar’s office is part of Student Administrative Services (SAS) at Clarkson University. The office is responsible for maintaining the official academic record for all students, upholding academic policy, and safeguarding student information while ensuring students’ right to access are upheld. But, what do we DO?

The five members of the Registrar’s office work in close partnership with the SAS Reps, academic advisors, and academic administration to manage technical recordkeeping, student enrollment, grading, and graduation. We are responsible for maintaining and creating the course catalogs, class schedules, academic calendars, and academic advisement reports for the University.

We also…

  • Maintain and release students’ official academic record (the transcript)
  • Provide guidance about academic policy
  • Act as a central source of academic information for the University
  • Certify the enrollment of students using GI Bill benefits
  • Provide Apostillization of academic credentials to students working overseas
  • Assist honor societies in connecting with eligible students
  • Record earned AP and transfer credit

In 2019-2020, the Registrar’s office was focused on finalizing the development of academic advisement reports for all undergraduate majors on campus, offering the student body more services in an online & mobile friendly format, and developing all SAS staff to have a better understanding of academic record keeping and policy. We are a professionally engaged office, with several staff members participating in national professional organizations.  Specifically, Krista Larock Wells (Associate Registrar) was selected to present at Alliance Philadelphia (canceled) about how our office leveraged CommGen to collect grades, and Jen Stokes (Registrar) chaired the Stop and Share track at the Virtual Alliance 2020 conference earlier this month. Additionally, Jen is participating with an AACRAO working group to develop professional guidelines for institutional closures and mergers with regard to managing student records.

As we look forward to the 2020-2021 academic year, we are committed to continuing to provide the high quality service that the University has come to expect, while working collaboratively with our partners across campus to support the University mission. We are excited to re-connect with students and colleagues in person as soon as we are able, but in the meantime, please connect with us virtually on our new Facebook or Instagram pages!
