Message about Reopening the Fitness Centers on Campus

Clarkson has received detailed guidelines from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Tuesday, August, 18th and we have been working diligently to make sure we have everything in place to open up our fitness and recreation centers. In the NYSDOH guidelines, there are facility requirements (HVAC, cleaning items, etc), employee requirements and patron requirements that must be met at all times for us to open the fitness centers on campus. Some of these requirements are already in place and some are being put in place at this time.  The St. Lawrence County DOH must come on for a site visit to each of our facilities and must certify the guidelines we have put in place.  Once this occurs we will be able to open.

Please keep in mind that once we do open it will be at 33% capacity, and there will be strict guidelines that must be adhered to and enforced.  Each facility will be accessed through a reservation system that will allow students and employees to reserve access to the facility of their choice during an open block. The reservation system will help us manage capacity numbers, allow for contact tracing and help us follow the cleaning and air circulation guidelines. More information will be coming on facility procedures and how to access the reservation system.

We are looking forward to opening back up our facilities and will reach out to the campus community as soon as it is safe to do so.
