Reminder from the Provost about Exams-During the Semester and Finals

Action: Follow Exam Protocol

As a reminder, evening exams for fall 2020 semester are temporarily eliminated to prevent student time conflicts and to promote student achievement.  Administration of evening and weekend exams (UNLESS the course is scheduled as an evening class) may only be scheduled by Provost Exception, on a case by case basis, by e-mailing apickeri@clarkson.edu.

As the Registrar’s office works to complete the final exam schedule for the Potsdam campus, it is important to note the following:

  • Final exams can be no more than three hours in length, and are required for every course unless a project, presentation, or other structured learning component is held in lieu of an exam.
  • The final requirement of each course (be it exam, project, presentation, etc) must be held/due during the regular final exam period (November 18-20, and November 23-24).
  • Exams can be synchronous or asynchronous, and can be held in person or online. All synchronous exams should be scheduled through the Registrar’s office.
  • No tests or examinations can be held (or due) between November 9-15 (University Regulations III-G.6 TESTS)
  • In response to the modified Fall 2020 academic calendar, no evening exams or weekend exams are currently permitted outside of the final exam period, except on a case by case basis approved by the Provost.

If you have forgotten to schedule your synchronous final exam through the Registrar’s office, please reach out to academicscheduling@clarkson.edu as soon as possible for assistance.
