Dear advisors,
With careful planning the Adirondack Semester is designed to fit into nearly all academic programs on campus. Please consider / refer to the following details about the Fall 2021 program when communicating with advisees:

Professional experience: With approval from a student’s department, the Integrated Research Project (EV 314) has been counted towards a students professional experience requirement. This may require that the student forgoes the 3 credits associated with the course. During the IRP the cohort will work closely with community partners such as government agencies, nonprofits, and businesses to address a relevant issue in the Adirondacks. One of the community partners is often considered the “client” of the semester’s project.
Collaboration with community organizations for Fall 21
To address aquatic connectivity and restoration, the Fall 2021 project intends to collaborate with groups such as:
- Fish and Wildlife Department
- The Nature Conservancy
- Department of Environmental Conservation
- Ausable River Association
- And several others
Applications are due April 2nd. This is a multidisciplinary experience that often has a powerful impact on our students. The Adirondack Semester was highlighted as a “best practice” in Clarkson’s recent ABET summary. If you or your students have any questions please reach out to me.
