PT students need volunteers for massage practice. Massage is one of many clinical skills that physical therapists need to master, and the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students are learning massage skills this semester. To improve their ability working with a variety of ‘clients’ (not just fellow PT students) we are seeking volunteers to receive 20 minute therapeutic massages of either the neck, low back, or feet. Depending on availability, you may sign up for up to 2 sessions on any or each of the 3 dates. The event will occur in Clarkson’s Physical Therapy Department in Clarkson Hall on:
- Wednesday, August 8th, 4-8 pm (last appointment 7:30 pm)
- Thursday, August 9th, 4-8 pm (last appointment 7:30 pm)
- Friday, August 10th, 2-6 pm (last appointment 5:30 pm)
The massages are free, and all we ask is that all volunteers provide honest feedback to the students regarding their professionalism and skills. These are ‘well-person’ massages and students will not be able to provide massages to areas of the body that have current injuries (acutely injured, currently receiving medical treatment, or resulting in disability) during this event. There will be a licensed physical therapist faculty member supervising the event.
