Exciting Change Coming! New Benefit System

Human resources is excited to announce that in December 2018 we are transitioning to a ‘NEW’ benefit system called Benefit Solver. Employees will be able to access benefit information same as in Smartben.  With Benefit Solver, employees will now be able to log in using their Clarkson username and password. This new system will replace Smartben. Human resources will be conducting training sessions for all employees. A campus announcement with the dates and times will be sent in the next few weeks.

NYS Paid Family Leave 2019 Changes    

Starting January 1, 2019, the number of weeks eligible employees can take to bond with a new child, care for a sick family member, or assist loved ones when a family member is deployed abroad for active military service increases from 8 to 10 weeks.

Note: If an employee is on PFL that crosses from 2018 into 2019, the benefit and amount of leave time will remain at the 2018 levels.

The benefit amount increases from 50% to 55% of the employees’ average weekly wage up to 55% of the statewide average weekly wage of $1357.11.  The maximum weekly benefit for 2019 is $746.41.

The 2019 contribution rate will increase from 0.126% to 0.153% of the employee’s gross wages. The maximum annual contribution amount will increase from $85.56 to $107.97.

Howard Lechler ’48 Endowed Medical Assistance Fund at Clarkson University

The Howard Lechler ’48 Endowed Medical Assistance Fund was established in April 2000 through a gift from Mary Lou and Howard E. Lechler ’48 to make financial assistance to Clarkson Faculty and Staff (and their immediate family) with extraordinary medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Employees needing assistance should be directed to contact human resources and provide written documentation to support the request.
