Dr. Chen Liu, an Associate Professor in Clarkson’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, served as Program Co-Chair for the fourth International Conference on Connected and Autonomous Driving (MetroCAD 2021), held virtually on April 29, 2021.
With the burgeoning of edge computing and 5G technologies, future vehicles will serve as a computing platform for a variety of services such as autonomous driving, remote real-time diagnostics, safety, and third-party services, such as on-board entertainment. To realize the vision of connected and autonomous driving, researchers and practitioners in the community have to address several challenges, such as communication systems, data analytics platforms, novel algorithms and applications, security, to name a few.
The fourth International Conference on Connected and Autonomous Driving brought together researchers and practitioners on connected cars, autonomous driving, transportation systems and ride-sharing platforms to address core challenges with vehicle connectivity and autonomous driving.
Two keynote speakers, Reuben Sarkar (President & CEO, American Center for Mobility) and Tony Han (Founder & CEO, WeRide) spoke, there was a panel discussion on “Autonomous DrivingWhere are we today?” and a presentation of nine technical papers divided into three sessions.
“The conference program was successful, achieving our goal of vibrant exchange of ideas in this hot research area and stimulating the collaboration between academia and industry partners,” Liu said.
