About the new food pantry: A new food pantry has been established on campus for the Clarkson Community to use. It is located in the Quad Center. This food pantry was initiated by the Clarkson Sophomore Honors Program during the 2021 Academic Year as part of the Sophomore Honors Project. It has been supported by the Clarkson Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) Committee and Sodexo. The pantry will be managed by students in the Honors Program with oversight from the Honors Program. Volunteers from other groups on campus will also be able to help. This pantry will provide students with an easy, safe, and confidential way to access food to help combat the problem with food insecurity on campus.
17.5% of students on campus are estimated to be food insecure. This is based on a survey conducted by the Clarkson Honors Program. Graduate students are often the most vulnerable to food insecurity. A food pantry was also highly encouraged by the students who completed the survey, with over 40% of the respondents being interested in a food pantry on campus.
