Graduate Peer Mentor for the Career Center
The Graduate Peer Mentor for the Career Center will assist with support for the Career Center staff as well as a secondary manager to the undergraduate workers. This is a paid position. This position requires a commitment of 10-12 hours per week for the full academic year (Fall 2021 – Spring 2022).
General Responsibilities:
- Support the welcome/triage for the Career and International Centers
- Answer phone calls and distribute messages to the appropriate party
- Facilitate student appointment requests and walk-ins
- Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff inquiring about CIC services
- Attend monthly meetings with undergraduate workers
- Other duties as assigned
Graduate Responsibilities:
- Meet with students to revise resumes and cover letters
- Assist with both Pre-Fair and Career Fair week
- Liaise with the CU marketing team to promote events at the University level
- Assist in marketing and advertising employer events and initiatives (e.g. social media, email, and web)
- Assist with employer outreach and retention
- Hold mentor sessions with students to explore career paths and opportunities
- Create and execute educational career workshops for the student body
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be currently enrolled in a Clarkson University graduate program
- Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
- Have knowledge of on-campus resources
- Have strong written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of MS Office, Google applications, etc.
- Committed to encouraging diversity and fostering an inclusive environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have participated in a professional experience (mentorship, internship, co-op, etc.)
- Eligible to become a University Approved Driver (transportation support for international students)
