Our annual fire inspection with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) will take place at CRC on Monday, November 26 at 9:00 am. Please ensure that your office, classrooms and any other work spaces you utilize are safe and compliant. Attached is a checklist to use while reviewing your spaces, along with some items observed in previous year inspections to specifically keep an eye out for:
- Inappropriate use of powerstrips and extension cords.
- Powerstrips and extension cords must be plugged directly into an electrical outlet, they cannot be combined in any way (no daisychaining).
- Extension cords are for temporary use only, they cannot be used as a permanent power source
- Items such as microwaves, refrigerators and heaters must be plugged directly into an electrical outlet, they cannot be plugged into a powerstrip or extension cord.
- Inappropriate storage of combustibles.
- There can be no combustibles stored within 24 inches of the ceiling.
- Fire doors must be able to properly close and latch without assistance. If a door is not closing (or opening) properly, submit a work order to have Facilities & Service evaluate.
