Clarkson Graduate Student Gives Presentation at Her Former High School in Colchester, VT.

Danielle Whitham, a Clarkson graduate student, went to her former high school in Colchester, VT, to give a presentation about her lab, department, and university. Whitham graduated from Clarkson in 2020 with a BS in Chemistry and then started her graduate studies in the Biochemistry & Proteomics Lab, led by Associate Professor of Chemistry Costel C. Darie.

The presentations given by former undergraduate students are a very good way to advertise about Clarkson and also to give high school students the opportunity to talk with them. This opportunity was initiated by Whitham, at the request of her advisor. She contacted Mr. Jeffrey Richey, who teaches chemistry, set up the presentation time with him, developed the presentation, and delivered it.

“The students absolutely loved learning about Clarkson and what the school has to offer along with research, how beneficial it can be and the many possibilities of being involved in research. Proteomics seemed to interest them and I had a few questions about that along with general questions about research in general, types of jobs after school and so much more! I really think quite a few of them were interested in Clarkson”, said Whitham.
