Clarkson’s Institute for a Sustainable Environment has some very exciting sustainability news on campus! All food waste from the apartments be collected and composted by the Whitten Family Farm located in Winthrop. They have been working with Clarkson through the New York State Pollution Prevention Grant to develop this plan. There are 4 compost receptacles located around campus for students to drop off food waste. They are swapped out each week by Whitten Family Farm.
If you live in an apartment building please come and pick up a compost bucket from the ISE (TAC 177). In the United States 40% of food is wasted. Much of food waste ends up in landfills producing greenhouse gasses which contribute to climate change. Please do your part and help us compost on campus!
