Final Message from Presidential Search Co-Chairs

Dear Clarkson Community,

We are delighted to be sending you this final update as we complete our service as Co-Chairs of the Presidential Search Committee and sunset the Committee.

We want to send our sincere thanks to the members of the Search Committee for their unwavering commitment to this most important task and to the entire Clarkson community for your engagement in the process and patience while the search activities thoughtfully progressed.

With the March 24th announcement that Marc P. Christensen will become Clarkson’s 17th President on July 1, the search activities are complete, and the transition activities can begin. A 7-member Transition Committee has been formed. This committee will be advisory to and serve at the direction of the President-Elect. The responsibilities are to be available to advise the new President and facilitate meetings or other activities of the new President as needed. The committee will not have responsibilities that fall under other bodies (e.g., the Board of Trustees, the President-Elect’s Cabinet, the Faculty Senate, etc.) and the committee will be in place until approximately 100 days after Marc becomes President.

The members of the Transition Committee are listed below:

·       Bebonchu Atems – Faculty, Co-Chair and Bridge to the Search Committee

·       Karel Czanderna – Trustee, Co-Chair

·       Mahfuza Akter – Graduate Student

·       Sakena Kearse – Undergraduate Student

·       Cathy McNamara – Staff

·       Devon Shipp – Faculty

·       Steve Smalling – Staff

In closing, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve Clarkson as Search Committee Co-Chairs. We look forward to Clarkson’s next chapter.

Sincerely,

Sanj Kulkarni ’84 and Georgia Keresty ‘83
