Faculty: Use Technology to Let Your Students Attend the Career Fair

Clarkson University Spring 2019 Career Fair is coming soon.  Dozens of companies will visit and your students are eager to meet with them face to face.

If instructors wish to release students from class so they can attend Career Fair in person, but don’t want to lose valuable class time — know that there are options!  Many faculty take advantage of lecture recording and other instructional technologies to deliver course content digitally. This gives students the opportunity to flex their time so they can participate in these real-time opportunities.

Instructional staff are available to assist faculty to record and post content for students to view.  Contact helpdesk@clarkson.edu to schedule a session today.

Available options:

  1. Pre-record a lecture on your own PC or workstation and post to your Moodle course. For a quick, easy desktop capture (records everything displaying on your desktop as well as voice, camera view optional), you can download Echo360 Desktop Capture.  This is available to all Clarkson faculty & staff. Email helpdesk@clarkson.edu to get started with an account.
  2. Pre-record a lecture in the Teaching & Learning Corner (TLC) located in BH Snell B19.  This allows you to take advantage of the large Wacom pen touch tablet, microphone, recording software available for your use in a very quiet, confidential space.  Available by appointment, email helpdesk@clarkson.edu to request a time.
  3. Record your live class session with Echo360 and post to Moodle for students to view later that day.  Availability in designated classrooms only.  See list.  Some set-up required.  For first time captures, please allow 2-3 days lead time for account set up.  Contact helpdesk@clarkson.edu ASAP if you are interested in this option.

The Teaching & Learning Corner is Clarkson’s home for academic technology and graduate instructional design services.  With TLC’s newly renovated classroom/studio/office in the basement level of BH Snell, the TLC is a resource center for faculty across the institution who seek information about technology and tools that are essential in delivering quality learning experiences in all course delivery modes in today’s dynamic environment.
