Clarkson University’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 536 invites the public to join in celebrating the 75th anniversaries of the U.S. Air Force and Department of the Air Force on Monday, Sept. 19.
Clarkson’s AFROTC is also celebrating its own 40th anniversary during the ceremony on Sept. 19, which will be held in the Student Center from 5 to 7 p.m.
Clarkson’s AFROTC detachment was established in 1982 and has spent the past 40 years developing leaders who have served as officers in both the United States Air Force and Space Force. Students in Clarkson’s AFROTC come from all four universities in the Associated Colleges of St. Lawrence Valley and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of developmental experiences both here on campus and through summer internships and training programs that span the globe.
Clarkson’s AFROTC event will offer a brief history of the Air Force, a cake cutting ceremony and a coordinated Clarkson University Archives Open House Event. The cake-cutting ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm followed by curated tours of the archives and the opportunity to socialize or ask questions about the Air Force or AFROTC program.
