The Office of Residence Life has the right to approve or deny vacation housing to any student depending on the reasoning for the request.
Should any student have a need to return early from Thanksgiving Break, they are required to submit an Early Arrival Form found on the Residence Life Knightlife page by November 25 at 4:30 pm. The Office of Residence Life has the right to approve or deny vacation housing to any student depending on the reasoning for the request.
Students who do not complete these forms or who are not approved and are found on campus past 10 am on November 23rd will be charged $50.00 per night for unauthorized vacation housing. Find the Vacation Housing Request Form and Early Arrival Form on the Residence Life KnightLife page.
CLOSING PROCEDURES
Your Resident Advisor will be responsible for clearing your room for Thanksgiving Break. To make this process as easy as possible and ensure that your RA knows when you will be vacating your room, complete the Closing Form that will be taped to your residence door on November 11th. Your room must be clear following the procedures outlined below. Failure to close your room properly will result in a $50.00 fine.
- Clean your apartment and remove all your trash.
- Turn off lights, and computers, and unplug nonessential appliances.
- Close your drapes and lock your windows.
- Lock your door when leaving.
- Clean out fridges.
- Set your thermostats to 65°
- If you live in an apartment, keep your cabinet doors under the sink in the bathroom and kitchen open to allow warm air to circulate, and leave your bedroom doors open to help keep the water pipes from freezing.
- If you are leaving your vehicle on campus, park your vehicle in the Hamlin-Powers parking lot.
- Be mindful about packing your vehicles the night before. It can be an invitation to thieves.

If you are approved for vacation housing, be mindful that the dining facilities will not be operating for meal plan use during this time. The on-campus Food Pantry is available to students and is located in Quad 117.
