June is National PTSD Awareness Month. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that develops in some people after extremely traumatic events, such as combat, crime, assault, an accident or a natural disaster. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event. Encourage your employees to visit the CARE Health Education Library to learn more about PTSD causes, symptoms, treatment, support groups, and when and how to seek help.
