2023 Associated Colleges Teaching Effectiveness Conference

Dear Faculty, 

Registration is now open for the Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley Annual Teaching Effectiveness Conference. This year’s conference theme is “Understanding & Engaging the Post-Pandemic College Student”. The full-day conference will consist of a keynote address by Dr. Jennifer Ball, panels, and a facilitated roundtable discussion. Conference participants will have the opportunity to learn from and interactively engage with fellow colleagues from the Associated Colleges, to discuss critical issues related to mental health and digital challenges that our students and faculty are experiencing post-pandemic. Details are as follows:

                                                            CONFERENCE FORMAT

Opening Remarks: 
President Marc Christensen, Clarkson University

Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Jennifer Ball, Professor of History & Social Documentation / VP Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access

Panel 1 – Supporting Students’ Mental Health:
Directors of Counseling Centers from the four local colleges have been invited to speak to faculty about how the pandemic has impacted students’ mental health and their college experience, and how faculty can better understand and support them.

Panel 2 – Digital Opportunities & Challenges:
Field experts from the Associated Colleges will cover an array of topics including AI Chat GPT, digital literacy, and academic integrity and dishonesty.

Facilitated Roundtable Discussions:
Participants will have the opportunity to dive into in-depth conversations with their peers on the topics discussed throughout the conference. These dialogues will helps us generate insights on critical issues that impact a student’s learning experience and faculty’s teaching practices and identify strategies to best support students.
