Seniors Lauren Meyers and Sarah Jane Gascoyne joined Dr. Lauren Petley, PI of Clarkson’s Hearing and Attention Lab, for the 51 st annual scientific and technology conference of the American Auditory Society in Scottsdale, Arizona this February. The annual meeting of the AAS presents a rare opportunity for scientists from industry and academia alike to share their knowledge and latest developments in hearing science and healthcare. Lauren Meyers presented on collaborative work between Clarkson and investigators at Cincinnati Children’s
Hospital and the University of California (Davis) examining the neural basis of idiopathic childhood listening difficulties. Sarah Jane Gascoyne presented on a stimulus development project which will support scientists around the world by providing them with a free resource for identifying engaging stimuli for their research. Both posters were highly attended and generated important awareness regarding the role of cognition (e.g., language and selective attention) in auditory function, particularly for the development of diagnostic tools in audiology.
