Spring Break Leaving Campus Housing Information

Dear Clarkson University Students,

Spring Break is just around the corner, and we want to ensure that your plans go smoothly. Please take note of the following important information:

  1. Break Dates: Spring Break begins after classes end on Friday, March 15th, 2024, with students required to vacate campus by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th, 2024. We kindly ask that you plan your transportation arrangements accordingly. 
  1. Spring Break Closing Form: All students must complete the Spring Break Closing Form, which can be accessed here: Spring Break Closing Form. Please remember that students who are not approved by the Office of Residence Life to remain on campus after 10:00 a.m. on March 16th will incur charges to their student account. This form is mandatory to complete. Failure to complete the form will result in a $25 charge to your student account. 
  1. Request for Extended Stay: If a student needs to remain on campus past 10:00 a.m. on March 16th regardless of for how long, they are required to request approval from the Office of Residence Life by completing the Vacation Housing Request Form no later than March 8, 2024. This form can be found on the Office of Residence Life Knight Life page, make sure you are logged in. Students who do not receive approval in advance may be fined. 
  1. Approved University Team/Event/Function: If you are staying on campus as part of an approved University team, event, or function (e.g., athletics, SPEED Teams), your coach or faculty advisor must connect with the Residential Housing Manager, Emma Blaiklock, at eblaiklo@clarkson.edu.
  1. Returning to Campus: Campus re-opens to students on Sunday, March 24th at 8:00 a.m. Classes resume on Monday, March 25th. If students need to return to campus early, they are required to complete the Early Arrival Request form no later than March 22nd. This form can be found on the Office of Residence Life Knightlife page.
  1. Closing Instructions: Failure to properly close your room may result in fines. Before you vacate your room, make sure to follow these instructions:
  • All roommates must complete the contract before leaving.
  • Ensure that all trash and recyclables are properly disposed of.
  • Close and lock the windows, and close the blinds.
  • Turn off all lights and electronics
  • Leave your room broom-swept or vacuumed clean.
  • Close and lock your doors.
  • Set the thermostat to 65 degrees.
  • Mini fridges must be cleaned out and unplugged. Apartment full-size fridges must be cleaned of all perishable foods but may remain plugged in.
  1. Dining on Campus: Please note that there will be no dining options available on campus during the break.
  1. Room Inspections: University officials may enter your room during the break. Failure to vacate campus or properly close your room (including completing the closing form) may result in fines and/or going through the university conduct system. Any policy violations will be adjudicated through the university conduct system. 
  1. Leaving a Vehicle on Campus for Break: If you are planning to leave a vehicle on campus for any part of the break, please contact Campus Safety and Security at safetyandsecurity@clarkson.edu for parking instructions.
